| Peer advisors who have traveled abroad extensively will pass along tips from their first-hand experience. An expert travel agent from STA Travel (in the Michigan Union, 734.769.2555 or umi@statravel.com) will provide information on student airfares, railpasses and budget accommodations. |
Topics to be covered include:
- Important information to know before you go, such as Passports, Visas, Student ID Cards, Insurance, Travel Advisories and what embassies can and cannot do for you abroad.
- Cheapest and Best Airfares and Railpasses (buy before you go).
- Travel Budget and how to save money overseas
- Transportation, accommodations, food.
- Last-minute options for working and volunteering abroad
- Adjusting to Life Overseas, such as Language barriers, women traveling alone, general safety and avoiding theft and other potential dangers abroad

| Description |
| The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical
Experience (IAESTE) offers students the opportunity to apply for a PAID
technical internship in more than 80 countries. All sophomores, juniors,
seniors and graduate students enrolled in a technical course of study
(engineering, sciences, architecture, computer science) at U-M are eligible to
apply for internships. Citizens of *all* countries are eligible. |

| This program offers placements for paid internships, paid summer jobs, volunteering and teaching for speakers of German, French, Spanish, Chinese or Japanese in Germany, Belgium, South America, China and Japan (according to language spoken). |
| Two kinds of placements are available: A) internships in engineering, business and a few other fields. B) general placements in which work in a foreign language (German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese) is the main objective. | This panel presentation features representatives of several internship and work abroad programs, including: AIESEC (paid internships worldwide), BUNAC (Work in Britain, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand), CDS (internships in Germany, Spain and Argentina, affiliated with U-M's Department of Germanic Languages), France Internships through U-M's Department of Romance Languages, and U-M's India Summer Abroad (funding for internships from the Center for South Asian Studies). |

| If you're interested in volunteering or an internship in another culture for social causes, don't miss this presentation which will cover how to find and fund opportunities worldwide from 2 weeks to 2 years. |
| We'll hear from students who participated in programs such as Amigos de las Americas, Child Family Health International, Cross-Cultural-Solutions, Foundation for Sustainable Development, ProWorld, Volunteers for Peace, the Peace Corps and more! Our panelists volunteered in Asia, Africa, Europe and Latin America, while they were undergraduates, after graduation or while in graduate or medical school. Focus of these programs includes health education, clinical work, environment, and social and economic development. You can still apply for these programs for the summer (or for next year, if you're graduating). |
