The International Center is excited to announce a series of Pre-Departure Orientation events in Singapore, India and Korea this summer! These events are an excellent opportunity to prepare for your travels to the U.S., meet other new U-M students, as well as get your questions about U-M answered by current students, alums and IC staff.
Summer 2023 PDO hosted sites will be:
- May 13: Singapore
- June 9: New Delhi, India
- June 11: Mumbai, India
- July 2: Seoul, South Korea
Due to limited space at event locations, graduate students cannot bring guests to this event. Undergraduate students are allowed to bring one parent to the event.
Students are only allowed to register for one event. If you are unable to attend in-person, there is also a virtual PDO option being offered. You can register for the virtual event here.
Pre-Departure Orientation: Singapore
The International Center is excited to host a PDO for Singaporean and students from other nearby countries in conjunction with the Pan-Asia Reunion! This event is open to students from Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam.
The Singapore PDO will be held at the following time and location:

Pre-Departure Orientation: India
The International Center is excited to host two events in India for students and parents. PDO events will be held at the following times and locations:
New Delhi PDO: June 9, 2023
Location: ALoft Aerocity New Delhi
Time: 12:00 - 4:00PM
Mumbai PDO: June 11, 2023
Location: Courtyard Mumbai International Airport
Time: 9:00AM - 1:00PM
Pre-Departure Orientation: Korea
The International Center is excited to welcome Korean students and parents in Seoul!
Parents who attend will join a separate session at the same time, which will be conducted in Korean. Student sessions will be conducted in English. Students can indicate if a parent will join when they register.
The PDO in Korea will be held at the following time and location:
Seoul PDO: July 2, 2023
Location: Sofitel Ambassador Seoul

Other Pre-Departure Events
Many organizations wish to help you prepare for your upcoming educational journey. This section will be updated periodically with events sponsored by University of Michigan Alumni Clubs or recognized student organizations. Additionally, the U.S. Department of State’s Education USA advising centers offer in person or virtual pre-departure orientation events. While these are not specific to U-M, they may offer valuable insights specific to citizens and residents of that country.
