Ugo Buzzi

Ugo joined the University of Michigan as a Faculty & Staff Immigration Adviser in September 2016, after having previously served in the position from 2013-2014. He advises on H-1B, TN, E-3 and Permanent Residency issues. Prior to joining the International Center in 2013, he served as an Assistant State's Attorney in Chicago, Illinois, and has also practiced law in the area of commercial litigation. Ugo attended graduate school at the University of Michigan prior to attending law school at Michigan State University College of Law.

Ema Avsharian

Ema joined the International Center in August 2015. She advises on H-1B, TN and E-3 status issues. She grew up in the former Yugoslavia (Serbia) and was an international student at the University of Michigan herself! She graduated from the U of M with a degree in music performance and then went to Michigan State College of Law where she obtained her J.D. degree. After law school, Ema practiced law in private practice for seven years, before joining the IC. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Beth Hoffman-Lopez

Beth has been working at the International Center’s Faculty and Staff Immigration Services office since 1998. As the Senior FSIS Adviser, she handles H-1B, E-3, TN, and permanent residency cases.  Growing up, she lived in many different states but spent the most time in Wyoming and still loves spending time out West.  Beth was an exchange student in France and worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer in both Haiti and Guatemala.  She speaks Spanish and occasionally remembers a few words of French.  Outside of the IC she loves to travel, read and try new recipes.

David Muusz

David joined the University of Michigan in 2013 and currently serves as the Assistant Director for Faculty and Staff Immigration Services at the IC. Before joining the university, David held similar roles at the University of Chicago and Virginia Tech. He’s originally from the Netherlands where he earned two degrees including one in Language and Culture Studies with a focus on American Studies. After graduate school, he taught English as a Second Language and Intercultural Communication.
